About the game
Chalk Line is a quick defence game drawn with your finger. A little mouse chef has baked a strawberry cake, and a stream of hungry ants is pouring out of the holes in the kitchen skirting. Ants will not cross a chalk line, so you draw walls, ramps and fences on the floor to keep them away. An ant that spends too long rubbing against chalk gives up and walks home sulking.
The catch is that chalk wears off. Wherever ants push head-on, the line thins out, glows red and finally breaks, so a straight wall facing the holes needs constant patching, while a slanted line that ants slide along barely wears at all. Your chalk stick shrinks as you draw and only slowly grows back. Twenty kitchens bring more holes, fast red scouts, big ants that scrub chalk away in no time, and bowls, table legs and flour sacks in the way.
