Controls
Hold- Hold anywhere to switch the lure on; let go to switch it off.
- While holding, slide left or right to swim.
- Fish inside the glow swim to the lure and into your mouth; each one fills your energy a little.
- The light drains energy while it is on, and sharks see it from almost twice as far: a shark that reaches you bites off 30 energy, and a spiky puffer in your mouth costs 20.
- Eat the quota before your energy runs out.
- Stars: quota, 40 or more energy left, and no bites or stings.
About the game
Angler Lure is a small deep-sea arcade game about patience and timing. You are an anglerfish waiting on the dark sea floor with a glowing lure hanging in front of your mouth. Little fish drift past in the gloom. Switch the light on and the ones inside its glow turn and swim straight for it, right into your jaws. Each fish keeps you going, and you need a full quota of them before your energy is gone.
The catch is that a light in the deep is a signal to everything. Sharks patrol higher up and notice the glow from nearly twice as far as the little fish do; once one has seen it, it keeps coming for a moment even after you go dark, and when it reaches you it takes a big bite of your energy. Spiky puffers are drawn in too, and swallowing one stings. So the game becomes a rhythm of blinking: light up when a school is close and the water is clear, go dark the moment a shark turns or a puffer drifts into the beam, and slide along the sea floor to meet the fish instead of waiting. Leaving the lamp on is the fastest way to starve. Eighteen dives raise the quota, add sharks and speed them up, bring in puffers from the fourth dive and shrink the glow.
