About the game
Grub Knock puts you on a tree trunk as a hungry woodpecker. Grubs hide under the bark, and the only way to find them is to knock. Solid wood answers with a dull thud. A spot over a grub rings hollow, and the closer the grub, the louder the ring: four rings for a shallow grub, fewer for deeper ones. Every knock leaves a little chalk mark so you can read the tree even with the sound off. Hold on a spot to peck it open and catch what is inside.
The trick is that sound travels. A grub also leaks a faint echo into the spots beside it, so a quiet ring might be a deep grub, or just a loud neighbour. Peck an empty spot and every grub nearby digs one level deeper, ringing fainter and taking longer to reach. Later trees add knots and sticky sap pockets that ring like a grub but are not. 24 trees, stars for speed and clean pecks.
