About the game
Key Cutter is a logic puzzle at a locksmith's bench. Every lock has a row of pins, and each pin needs a notch of exactly the right depth on the key. You do not see the answer, you feel it: each pin's spring tells you a small range of possible depths on its gauge, and the old locksmith's notes add hints such as two pins sharing a depth or one sitting deeper than another.
The twist is that filing is permanent. You can always make a notch deeper, never shallower, and one step too far ruins the blank. So you plan: cut every notch to the safest depth, test the key, and read the result, set, still too shallow or too deep, which crosses impossible depths off the gauges. Tests and blanks are limited, and three stars need the fewest tests, which means combining the notes with what each test tells you.
