About the game
Meerkat Watch puts you on top of the termite mound as the family lookout. Down below, the pups play outside their burrows while shadows drift over the warm sand: soft cloud shadows, and every so often a hawk circling high above. Tap a burrow and your call sends its pups diving underground, but only for a moment, so the timing is everything.
The trick is in the edges. A hawk high in the sky casts a big, blurry shadow, and as it drops toward its target the shadow shrinks and turns crisp. Clouds always stay soft, even the ones shaped like a bird. Call too early and the pups pop back up just before the strike; call at a cloud and the family trusts you a little less, and with no trust left they stop listening for a moment. Twenty-four days bring more burrows, hawks that come in pairs and threes, hawks that only pretend to dive, and faster dives.
