Arcade · Phone & PC · 20 languages · Free

A squid that can only move by jet: hold to suck in water, let go to shoot toward your finger, and climb a deep trench past eels and hungry fish. Every jet leaves an ink cloud that blinds the fish, and hides the sea from you too. 18 trenches.

Controls

DragHold
  1. Hold anywhere: the squid fills with water and swells, and a dotted line shows where it will go.
  2. Let go and it jets toward your finger; the longer you held, the stronger the jet.
  3. Water drag slows you and you sink a little, so keep jetting upward to the bubbling vent at the top.
  4. Rocks bounce you, but eels and fish cost a life (you have three).
  5. Every jet leaves an ink cloud behind you: a fish that loses sight of you through the ink gives up the chase, but you cannot see through it either.
  6. Stars by lives left.

About the game

Ink Jet is an arcade climb through a deep-sea trench with a hero who cannot swim like a fish. A squid gets around by jet propulsion: it fills its body with water and squirts it out hard, shooting itself the other way. Here you do exactly that. Hold your finger down and the squid swells; let go and it rockets toward your finger. A quick tap is a small hop, a long hold a big burst, and the water slows you down again soon after, so the whole climb is a rhythm of fill, aim and fire.

The trench is not empty. Eels swing back and forth across the water, rocks jut from the walls, and in deeper trenches hungry fish patrol their patch and dart after you once they spot you. Every jet leaves a puff of ink where you were, and ink is the squid's real trick: a fish that loses sight of you through a cloud stops chasing and drifts home. But ink does not care whose side it is on. While it hangs in the water you cannot see what is behind it either, and an eel can swing out of a cloud you made yourself. Eighteen trenches get deeper, with more eels, faster fish and more of them.
