About the game

Last Piece is a quiet strategy duel built on a classic puzzle-maker's game. The twelve pentominoes, every shape you can make from five squares, sit in a shared tray beside an empty board. You and an animal rival take turns choosing any piece that has not been used yet and placing it anywhere it fits. There is no score and no capturing: the only thing that matters is the very end, because the player who puts down the last piece that still fits wins, and the player left staring at a board with no room loses.

That makes every placement a double move. You are not just finding a spot for your piece; you are deciding which shapes survive and where they can still go. A long straight bar needs a whole open row, the plus sign needs a free cross, and as the board fills those openings vanish one by one. The tray shows it: pieces that no longer fit anywhere fade out, so near the end you can count the remaining moves and try to make sure the count comes out in your favour. Eighteen matches grow the board from six by six to eight by eight, add pieces, and give you rivals that first play at random, then refuse to hand you an easy finish, and finally count out the endgame exactly. Each match is best of three.
