TapDrag
  1. Tap outside the ring to choose where your shooter starts on the chalk line.
  2. Then drag back from the shooter and let go to flick it; the longer the pull, the harder the shot, and a dotted line shows the direction.
  3. Knock a marble over the line and it is yours.
  4. If your shooter is still inside the ring after knocking one out, you shoot again from where it stopped; otherwise the rival takes a turn.
  5. Turn BACKSPIN on to make the shooter stop almost dead when it hits (the shot is a little weaker).
  6. Whoever wins more than half the marbles wins the match; stars depend on how few the rival got.

About the game

Marble Ring is a little physics game based on ringer, the classic schoolyard marble game. A circle is drawn in the dirt, a handful of colored marbles sit in a pattern in the middle, and players take turns knuckling down at the line and flicking a bigger shooter marble into them. Every marble you knock clean out of the ring is yours to keep, and the match goes to whoever wins more than half.

The heart of ringer is the rule about your shooter. After you knock a marble out, you only get to shoot again if your own shooter is still inside the ring, and your next shot starts from wherever it stopped. A shooter that rolls on after the hit and leaves the circle hands the turn to your rival. That is why good players put backspin on the shot: the shooter bites, stops almost where it struck, and sets up the next shot from close range. Here backspin is a switch; it makes the shot a touch weaker but keeps your run alive. Line up a marble with a short path to the edge, pull back far enough for the distance, and watch for marbles hiding behind others. Eighteen matches against animal rivals bring more marbles, tighter patterns and opponents who aim better and better.
