  1. A stack of cubes stands on a grid. Stacks are solid: every cube sits on the floor or on top of another cube, so a column of height three always has three cubes even if you only see the top one.
  2. Count all the cubes and tap the right answer among the four choices before the yellow bar runs out. Some columns hide completely behind taller ones in the first view.
  3. Tap TURN left or right to rotate the stack a quarter turn and look from another corner, but only once per question, so choose the side that will show the hidden part. Each set has 8 questions: get 6 right to pass, 7 for two stars and all 8 for three.
  4. Later sets have bigger grids, taller stacks and more hidden columns.

About the game

Block Count is a short brain game about seeing in three dimensions. Every question shows a little city of stacked cubes on a square grid, drawn in the classic isometric style of puzzle books and building toys, and asks one thing: how many cubes are there? Because the stacks are solid, the answer is really the sum of every column's height, including all the cubes you cannot see under the tops.

The catch is the view. From one corner, a tall tower can completely hide a short column standing behind it, and a quick count of what you see will come up short. That is where the turn comes in. Once per question you may rotate the stack a quarter turn to the left or to the right, and the two choices reveal different sides, so part of the skill is guessing which corner the hidden column is in before you spin. Each set has eight questions against a timer that grows with the size of the stack. The first sets are tiny two by two warm-ups, and the last ones are five by five blocks four cubes tall with several hidden columns.
