About the game
Chess Tactics is a ladder of sixty short puzzles that train the eye for winning moves. Every position comes from games played by our chess engine against itself, and a puzzle was only kept when a deep search proved there is exactly one first move that wins. Some ask for mate in one, some for mate in two, and the rest hide a way to win material with a fork, a pin, a skewer or a discovered attack.
Tap a piece and then a square. A wrong move bounces back, and when a line continues the rival answers by itself. Each solve earns up to three stars, fewer if you used a hint or slipped. Solving also fills a shelf of theme badges that turn bronze, silver and gold as you master each pattern.
