Firefly Beams

Logic · Phone & PC · 20 languages · Free

A calm logic puzzle in a night meadow. Each firefly faces one way and shows a number: draw its beam with exactly that many turns to another firefly or the glass jar, without crossing other beams, until every light flows into the jar.

  1. Drag from a firefly to draw its beam square by square. The beam must leave in the direction the firefly faces (the little yellow point), and it must turn exactly as many times as the number on the firefly.
  2. It ends when it reaches another firefly or the glass jar; it may not enter a firefly from the square that firefly is facing. Beams cannot cross, share squares or pass through fireflies, but several beams may end at the same firefly.
  3. While you draw, the turn counter shows how many turns you have made. A beam with the right number of turns turns green; a firefly lights up gold once its chain of beams reaches the jar.
  4. Light every firefly to win. Tap a firefly or a beam to clear it.
  5. HINT draws one correct beam and locks it. Solve without hints for three stars.
  6. Every meadow has exactly one solution.

About the game

Firefly Beams is a quiet logic puzzle built on a classic pencil-puzzle idea: every arrow-like piece sends out a line with a fixed number of bends, and all the lines together must form one connected network. Here the pieces are fireflies in a dark meadow, the lines are beams of light, and the network ends in a glass jar that fills with light as more fireflies join in.

The rules are few, but they press on each other. A firefly with a zero must shine straight ahead until it hits something, which often fixes its beam at once. A firefly in a corner facing a wall has only one way out. Beams cannot cross or share squares, so every beam you draw closes off space for the others, and every light has to find its way to the jar, so a beam that ends at a firefly is only useful if that firefly's own light gets through. Two pieces of feedback keep the board readable: a beam turns green the moment its turn count matches the number, and fireflies glow gold as soon as their chain reaches the jar. Sixteen meadows grow from three fireflies on a small field to twelve on an eight by nine board, and a solver checked that each has exactly one answer.
