About the game
Prize Bid is a quick duel of nerve and memory. You and an animal rival each hold the same set of numbered cards. Every round one prize card is turned face up, worth its number in points, and both of you choose a card to bid in secret. The higher bid takes the prize; if you tie, the prize stays on the table and the next one is added to it. When the prize deck runs out, the higher total wins.
The catch is that every card you bid is spent for good. Win a small prize with your thirteen and you will miss it later, so the real skill is deciding which prizes to lose and throwing your lowest cards at them. From the fourth rival on, spider cards join the deck with negative points, and those go to the lower bid, so you need some low cards left to dodge them. The rival's remaining cards are always shown, which makes careful counting pay off. Eight rivals, from a hamster who bids almost at random to an eagle who learns how you bid.
