Tap
  1. Each tap at the top is hot (red) or cold (blue) and can be opened from 0 to 4 turns with the + and - buttons. A tap's pipe branches and pours the same number of cups as its setting into every tub it reaches.
  2. Under each tub is its goal: how many cups (the dashed line) and what temperature. Hot water is 50°, cold water is 10°, and a tub's temperature is the average of what it gets, rounded.
  3. Press RUN WATER to fill the tubs: each tub then shows what it got, with a tick or a cross. Change the taps and run again until every tub matches.
  4. Each puzzle has exactly one correct setting. Solve it on the first run for three stars, within three runs for two.

About the game

Tap Mix is a small logic puzzle set in an old public bathhouse, where a row of tubs is filled from a handful of hot and cold taps through a tangle of pipes. The bath attendant has written the order on a card for every tub, so many cups at so many degrees, and it is up to you to set the taps so that one run of water fills them all exactly right.

The catch is in the plumbing. A tap is not connected to just one tub: its pipe splits and pours the same amount into every tub along its branch. Turning up one hot tap warms and fills two or three tubs at once, so fixing one tub can spoil its neighbours. The puzzle is to read the network: a tub fed by a single tap tells you that tap's setting directly, a tub at 50° can only have hot water, and from there the other tubs fall into place one by one. You can always experiment, since every run shows what each tub actually got, but the stars go to players who work it out before turning on the water. Eighteen bathhouses grow from two taps and two tubs to six taps feeding five tubs.
