  1. When a dot with a pointing finger appears, touch it before its ring runs out and keep that finger down.
  2. Lifting any finger that is on a dot ends the routine.
  3. A dot with a dashed line glides to a new spot: slide your finger along with it without lifting.
  4. A grey dot with an open hand must be released before its ring runs out.
  5. Solo: finish every step of the routine; stars by how quickly you reach each new dot.
  6. Party (2 to 4 players): each player has a colour; anyone who lifts, slips off or is too slow is out, and the last player still holding wins.

About the game

Finger Knot is the old party game where you twist your body across a mat of coloured spots, shrunk down to the fingers of one or two hands. Dots pop onto the screen one after another. Each one wants a finger on it, and once a finger is down it has to stay down. The trouble is where the next dot appears: the game deliberately puts it far from the fingers you are already using, often on the wrong side of your hand, so a few steps in your fingers are crossed over each other and your wrist is bent at an odd angle.

Three kinds of dot keep it lively. Plain dots must be reached before the ring around them runs out. Gliding dots slide slowly to a new place, and the finger on them has to slide along without lifting. Grey dots must be released, which is harder than it sounds when four other fingers are pinned around it. Solo routines grow from two fingers to five, with tighter rings and more gliding dots that cross each other. Party mode puts two to four players on the same screen, each with a colour, and turns it into a tangle of hands; the last player who has not lifted, slipped or missed wins.
