About the game
Next in Line is a quick pattern-spotting brain game. Each question shows a strip of six items and a question mark, and you pick the seventh from four choices before the timer bar runs out. Early levels are gentle: a shape that alternates, a colour that cycles every three, a number that goes up by the same step.
The real game starts when the rules stack up. From level ten a sequence follows two rules at once on different beats, say the colour repeats every two items while the size repeats every three, so the strip never looks like it simply repeats. The trick is to stop looking at the items as a whole and check one attribute at a time. Number rounds grow too, from plain steps and doubling to alternating steps, steps that grow, adding the two before and two sequences woven together. Later levels add arrows that turn a fixed amount and finally three rules at once. Every question is generated fresh and checked so that exactly one answer fits; each wrong choice breaks just one of the rules, so a careless glance gets caught. Miss one and the game shows you the rule.
