About the game

Old Maid is the classic party card game of passing the bad card along. A full deck plus one Joker is dealt out, and every pair of the same rank is thrown away. Then players take turns pulling one hidden card from the next player's hand; if it makes a pair, the pair goes too. Empty your hand and you are safe. The last one left holding the lonely Joker is the Old Maid.

The twist is reading your rivals, three cats with very different poker faces. When you are about to draw, a cat may nudge one card up a little. Easy cats are honest about it, so the raised card is usually the Joker. Sharp cats bluff, raising an ordinary card to lure you, or hiding the Joker flat. You can play the same trick: tap one of your own cards to raise it as a lure. Easy cats can't resist it, while sharp cats deliberately avoid it, so put the Joker under the lure or anywhere but, depending on who is drawing. Six tables climb from one honest cat to three bluffers.
