Controls

Tap
  1. Tap the four switches at the bottom to turn them on or off.
  2. Each bed has a small climate map: temperature runs left to right, humidity bottom to top, the white box is what its plant likes and the dot is the air in that bed right now.
  3. A plant grows while its dot is inside its box and loses health while it is outside.
  4. Vents pull the air toward the weather outside, the heater warms and dries (most of all the bed next to it), the mister wets (most of all the bed next to it) and shades block the hot sun.
  5. Nights are cold and middays hot.
  6. Reach the growth goal by the end of the season.

About the game

Greenhouse is a gentle but tricky management game about one glass house and the plants inside it. Every bed holds a different plant, and every plant has its own comfort zone of temperature and humidity: a cactus wants it hot and dry, an orchid warm and steamy, a fern cool and damp, a tulip cold. Outside, the sun rises and sets on a short day, so the air swings from chilly nights to hot afternoons.

You have only four switches, and each one changes the air for the whole house. That is the puzzle. The trick is that the beds are not all the same: the bed next to the heater runs much warmer and drier when it is on, the bed by the mister gets most of the spray, and the sunny bed overheats at noon unless the shades come down. So you place your climate rather than set it, finding the one combination of switches that puts every dot inside its box, then changing it as night falls or the midday sun climbs. A small map on each bed shows the plant's box and where its air is right now, so you can watch a dot drift out and react before the plant starts to wilt. Eighteen seasons bring more beds, plants that disagree more, colder nights and hotter days, and longer runs; sometimes saving most of the garden is better than losing all of it.
