About the game
Jungle Chess, also called Dou Shou Qi, is a classic Chinese board game for two. Each side has eight animals ranked from the rat at 1 to the elephant at 8. Animals step one square at a time and take any enemy of the same or lower rank, with one famous surprise: the tiny rat can take the elephant, but the elephant can never take the rat. Only the rat swims, and the lion and tiger leap the river unless a rat blocks the way.
An enemy that steps into your trap loses all its strength, so even a cat can catch a lion there. Walk any animal into the enemy den to win. Hover or pick up a piece and arrows show who it beats and who beats it. Play three jungle chiefs and climb the rating.
