Tap- A critic sits at the table showing what they love and what they hate (veg, sour, cheesy, rich, sweet, earthy, fishy, spicy). Tap two or three ingredients in the pantry to put them in the pot, then COOK & SERVE.
- A real recipe scores much better than mystery mush, each loved taste adds to the rating and each hated taste takes away. If a critic comes back, serving them the same dish again costs points.
- Ingredients are limited for the day. The BOOK shows every dish: ones you have cooked in full, the rest with just one ingredient revealed.
- Discovered recipes stay in your book. Reach the day's goal; more stars for higher ratings.
About the game
Test Kitchen is a small cooking puzzle about experimenting under pressure. Each day a queue of animal critics files into your kitchen, and each one has strong opinions: the cat wants fish and hates vegetables, the fox likes it spicy and cheesy and cannot stand sweet things, the rabbit only wants greens. You have a pantry with a few of each ingredient and a pot that holds up to three.
The catch is that nobody gives you the recipes. There are sixteen real dishes hidden among the ingredient combinations, from pizza and sushi to curry, paella and apple pie, and the recipe book shows only one ingredient of each until you cook it yourself. Throwing random things together produces mystery mush, which no critic enjoys. So every service is a balance between serving what you already know works and spending a scarce ingredient to discover something new. Critics also remember: the same critic served the same dish twice is not impressed, so a recipe that pleases the bear on Monday might need a twin by the time the bear comes back. Recipes you discover stay in your book for later days. Eighteen days bring more critics, more ingredients and a tighter pantry.
