TapDrag- On your turn, tap a card in your hand, then tap your column of that colour to play it, or the discard pile above it to throw it away.
- A column only climbs: each number must be higher than the last, and handshake cards may only go at the bottom before any number.
- Then draw: tap the deck, or take the top card of any discard pile except the one you just used.
- When the deck runs out the game ends.
- Each started column scores (sum of its numbers minus 20) times (1 + handshakes), plus 20 if it has 8 cards or more; columns you never start score nothing.
- Beat the rival's total; stars by margin.
About the game
Expedition Columns is a tense little card game for two, about committing at the right moment. The deck holds cards in several colours, each colour an expedition with cards numbered from 2 to 10 and a few handshake cards that double or triple the stakes. You and an animal rival each build your own columns on your side of the table, while a shared row of discard piles sits in the middle.
Every decision pulls two ways. A column can only climb, so playing the 7 now means the 3, 4, 5 and 6 still in your hand are dead for that colour. Starting a column costs 20 points before it earns anything, so a half-hearted expedition loses points, and handshake cards played at the bottom multiply the result, good or bad. Discarding is not safe either: every card you throw away lands face up where your rival can take it. And the clock is the deck: each draw from it brings the end closer, while taking from the discard piles stretches the game for whoever needs more time. Eighteen games bring more colours and rivals who judge their expeditions more carefully. Stars come from how far you finish ahead.
