About the game
Go is the ancient board game of surrounding. Black and white take turns placing stones on the crossing points. A stone or a connected group is captured when the other side fills every empty point next to it, its liberties. When both players pass, the stones and the empty area each side has walled off are counted, and white gets 6.5 points for moving second. This version uses the small 9x9 board, so a whole game takes about ten minutes.
Two helpers make it friendly for new players. Atari rings light up every group that is down to its last liberty, red for yours and gold for the opponent's, with the escape point marked. The AREA view shades the board by who is likely to own each point. Play a frog, a tanuki and a wise owl.
