  1. Tap a gold piece, then a glowing spot.
  2. A piece moves in a straight line, including diagonals, exactly as far as the number of pieces on that line.

About the game

Lines of Action is a classic abstract strategy game where the goal is not to destroy the other side but to gather your own. Your pieces start spread along two edges of the board. A piece moves in a straight line, across, up and down, or diagonally, and it must travel exactly as many squares as there are pieces on that whole line, counting both colours. It may jump over your own pieces but never over an enemy, and if it lands on an enemy piece that piece is captured. The first player to join all their pieces into a single touching group, diagonals included, wins.

The tricky part is seeing connections, so the twist here makes them visible. Every group of your pieces is linked with a coloured cord and ringed in the same colour, and a counter under the board shows how many separate islands each side still has. Join two islands and the counter drops with a chime. When you pick up a piece, dotted lines show exactly where the counting rule lets it go. Six rivals play on a small 6x6 board first and then the classic 8x8. Stars: win, win without hints, and win while your rival is still scattered into three or more islands.
