About the game
Monk Cards is a short strategy duel on a five by five board. Each side has four Student stones and one Master stone with a golden ring, lined up on their home row with the Master on the temple square in the middle. There are no fixed piece moves. Instead five move cards are dealt: two to you, two to your rival and one waiting at the side. Each card shows a little grid with arrows. On your turn choose one of your cards and move any of your stones along one of its arrows, capturing whatever rival stone stands there.
Then comes the catch. The card you just used slides to the side, the waiting card comes to you, and on the next turn your rival can pick up the card you played. The twist makes that visible: the card you are about to give away is marked, and the rival's cards are drawn with their arrows flipped toward you, so you always see the threats. Win by capturing the rival Master or by stepping your Master onto their temple. Six opponents, from a novice to a Grand Master who reads five moves ahead.
