About the game

Shade Out is a glowing take on the logic puzzle Hitori. The grid is full of numbered lanterns, and you switch some of them off. When you are done, no number may appear twice in any row or column among the lit lanterns. Two dark cells may never sit side by side, and every lit lantern must stay linked to the rest.

That last rule is easy to break by accident, so the lanterns are strung together with glowing threads that update with every tap. The main web shines gold, and any lantern you cut off pulses red right away. Thirty-six puzzles grow from five by five to nine by nine, each with one answer you can find by logic.
