About the game
Spit Speed is a card game with no turns at all, only reflexes. You and your rival each hold up to five cards and refill from your own face-down pile. In the middle sit two piles, and anyone can play a card onto either one as long as it is exactly one higher or one lower than the top card, with ace and king wrapping around. Both sides play at the same time, so the faster eye and hand win. The first to get rid of every card in hand and pile is the winner.
The twist is the slap. Sometimes nobody can play: then it is SLAP TIME, and both of you race to hit the smaller of the two centre piles. Whoever slaps it first takes those few cards, and the slower player is stuck with the bigger pile. Hit the wrong pile and you take the big one yourself. Chain plays quickly for combos, and the hint lifts every playable card for a moment. Six rivals get faster with every table, from a sleepy sloth to a cheetah cub. Stars: win, win without hints, and win while your rival still holds eight or more cards.
