About the game
Stick Pile is a calm, careful puzzle about the oldest table game in the woods. A beaver in a green kerchief has to clear a heap of painted pick-up sticks from a big tree stump. Wherever two sticks cross, one of them clearly lies on top and casts its shadow on the other, and a stick can only come out when nothing lies on it. Tap a covered stick and the pile wobbles; three wobbles and it all tumbles down.
The sign at the top says which colour to pick next, so reading the crossings is only half the job. Often two sticks of the right colour are free, and only one of them uncovers the colour the sign wants after that. Twenty-four piles grow from four sticks to twenty, shaped as heaps, stars and log cabins, with three stars for a clean clear.
