About the game
Derby Gallop puts you in the saddle of a racehorse in a crowded field of eight. Your horse cruises on its own, and you decide two things: which of the four lanes to run in, and when to use the whip. A horse right in front of you boxes you in and you can only go as fast as it does, so watch for a gap and pull out, but not into a horse running alongside, or you bump and lose ground.
The whip gives a strong burst of speed and burns stamina about ten times faster than cruising. Use it too early and your horse tires and drops back through the pack. Sitting just behind another horse saves stamina, so the classic plan is to stalk the leaders and strike in the final stretch. Front-runners go early and fade, closers come late.
