About the game

Pentomino Fill is a pencil-and-paper logic puzzle better known to puzzle fans as Pentominous. The grid has to be cut completely into pentominoes, the twelve shapes you can make by joining five squares edge to edge. A few cells carry a clue: a small picture of one of the twelve shapes, meaning that whatever piece covers that cell must be exactly that shape. One more rule makes it a real puzzle: two pieces of the same shape may never share an edge, although they may touch at a corner.

You solve it by drawing. Drag a finger through five connected cells and they become a piece; the moment the fifth cell joins, the piece is coloured and labelled with its own shape icon, so you always know what you have built. If it covers a clue of a different shape, or sits right against another piece of the same shape, it flashes red straight away. The real work is in the reasoning: a clue in a corner rules out the long bar, two clues of the same shape close together cannot be in one piece but cannot touch either, and the last few gaps often fit only one shape. All eighteen puzzles were generated and checked by a solver to have exactly one solution, growing from five by five to ten by six. Undo is free and a hint will place one correct piece if you are stuck.
