About the game

Shade Reach is a shading logic puzzle in the spirit of Kuroshuto. Numbers are scattered on a grid, and each one measures a distance: a 3 needs a shaded cell exactly three steps away from it, straight up, down, left or right, and exactly one of those up-to-four spots may be shaded. Shaded cells may never sit side by side, the unshaded cells must all link into one area, and no cell may be shaded unless some number points at it, so every shaded cell has a reason to be there.

The twist is that the reach is visible. Tap any number and its reach points light up as glowing rings joined to it by dotted lines, so instead of counting squares you can see at a glance which cells could satisfy it and where two numbers compete for the same spot. Numbers turn green once exactly one of their rings is shaded and the rest are settled, and turn red when two rings are shaded or none are left. Thirty puzzles grow from 5x5 to 10x10, each with a single answer; later ones give fewer numbers. Hints fix a wrong cell or settle the number with the fewest open rings.
