About the game
Pounce Race is a fast card game based on racing solitaire, the family favorite where everyone plays patience at once with their own deck. You sit at the bottom of the table with a pounce pile, four work piles and a stock; the animal rivals at the top do the same in their heads. In the middle is a shared row of foundation piles: any Ace starts one, and anyone can add the next card of the same suit. There are no turns; the rivals keep playing whether you are ready or not, and their cards fly into the middle as you watch.
That sharing is the whole game. The five of hearts in your hand only fits on a four of hearts, and if a rival drops their own five there a moment before you, it is taken and your card has to wait for another pile. So you watch the middle while you work your own cards: clear runs off your work piles to make room, feed your pounce pile down, and spin through the stock for the card that unlocks everything. The hand ends the moment anyone empties their pounce pile. Every card you placed in the middle is a point and every card still in your pounce pile costs two, so even a lost race can score. Eighteen hands add rivals, faster hands and bigger pounce piles, and later hands turn the stock three cards at a time. Every hand is dealt so that steady play can pounce out.
